Frequently asked questions

Does Variant Guard change products during a scan?

No. Catalog scans are read-only. A product change can happen only after a merchant creates and explicitly confirms a missing-SKU preview.

Which catalog problems does the app detect?

Variant Guard checks for missing and duplicate SKUs, missing and duplicate barcodes, invalid GTIN checksums, non-standard barcode formats, and zero prices.

Does Variant Guard create barcodes or GTINs?

No. The app validates existing barcode values but does not issue, purchase, register, certify, or claim ownership of GTINs. Obtain official identifiers from the appropriate standards organization.

Can the app overwrite an existing SKU?

The missing-SKU workflow never replaces a non-empty SKU. Before writing, the app rechecks the Shopify value and skips a row if the product changed after preview.

Do I need to configure rules before the first scan?

No. Open the app and start the read-only scan. Initial checks use the app's documented rules without requiring payment or configuration.

Does the app access orders or customers?

No. Variant Guard requests product and inventory access only. It does not request order or customer scopes.

How does billing work?

The Free plan supports catalog scanning. Paid plans add missing-SKU fixes and scheduled monitoring. Paid plans include a seven-day trial and are billed through Shopify.

What happens after uninstalling?

The app deletes stored access tokens and stops pending work after the uninstall webhook. When Shopify sends the required shop-redaction request, the app deletes remaining shop data. Backup copies expire under the published retention schedule.

How can I get help?

Visit Support or email mvv890517@gmail.com. Include the shop domain, approximate time, and correlation ID, but never send access tokens or passwords.
